Pre-K to Two
Future Focus at Temple University, sponsored by Career Connected Learning Philadelphia (C2L-PHL), is a career exploration summer camp at Temple University! Future Focus is for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders that provides students with career exposure opportunities, hands-on experience and project-based learning.

Next Steps AmeriCorps is a college success and retention program for work-study/Pell-grant eligible rising sophomores and juniors. Members complete 300 service hours with nonprofit partners while engaging in mentorship, workshops, and leadership development. Each member also mentors an incoming first-year student and joins all-Corps events for professional growth and civic engagement opportunities.
Teach for America’s Ignite Fellowship is an opportunity for Temple students to participate in a paid, virtual Fellowship, tutoring K–12 students in underserved communities for 3–5 hours per week while building their leadership skills and meaningful relationships with 2–3 students.
Temple Education Scholars (TES) is a year-long dual enrollment program designed for college-bound high school seniors to take up to 5 education courses at Temple University in a supportive environment.
Temple Reading Buddies, a collaboration between CREATE and FathersRead365, is an opportunity for Temple undergraduates students to earn course credit while spending 1–3 hours per week providing early literacy support to young learners in local early childhood centers or Kindergarten classrooms at Duckrey Elementary.
The Temple Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math & Science programs are federally funded college access programs designed to provide first-generation, low-income, and/or students at academic risk the supports needed to pursue and be successful through a college degree.
Thread builds a diverse community of volunteers and students united by deep, lasting relationships that break cycles of social and economic inequity and foster educational attainment, service, and well-being. Volunteers support Philadelphia high school students while developing leadership skills, mentorship experience, and strong community connections.
Family Friends helps grandparents and other kinship relatives raising children with disabilities feel supported and connected. We bring families together through workshops, fun community events, mentoring, and resource sharing to build lasting relationships and ease the challenges of caregiving.
Guiding Generations, aka Project GG, brings grandparents and their children (ages 5-8) together for learning, support, and fun. Caregivers participate in a series of educational workshops, mentoring, and caregiver empowerment groups, while their children receive homework help and academic enrichment support. We strengthen community through connection to each other and empower caregivers to feel confident and supported.
The Pennsylvania Teacher Education CRSE Initiative, commonly referred to as the CRSE communities of practice (COPs), brings together cohorts of teacher educators, preK-12 teachers, and district leaders to collaborate, share resources and strategies, and strengthen CRSE in Pennsylvania.
The Diversifying Early Education Leadership (DEEL) Fellowship, funded by the William Penn Foundation, aims to enrich the leadership of Philadelphia’s early childhood education community.
CREATE’S Early Childhood and Elementary Educator Workforce equity work sits alongside the ECE teacher certification program to offer inclusive, research-based, and community-focused initiatives to support pre-service and in-service early childhood educators.
Our Early Pipeline and Educator Development Initiatives are focused on various collaborations regarding the recruitment and retention of teachers for Philadelphia and Pennsylvania.
